Megalong Valley


The Megalong Valley is a picturesque valley surrounded by towering escarpments in the Blue Mountains of NSW. The Aboriginal meaning of Megalong is 'Valley under the Rock'. Popular for horse riding, there are a diverse range of trails through scenic bushland. The popular Six Foot Track bushwalk from Katoomba to the Jenolan Caves, passes through the Megalong Valley and sections of it can be done as a day walk. One of the best views of the Megalong Valley is from the Hydro Majestic Hotel at Medlow Bath. The hotel sits on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the valley and its eucalypt forests, spectacular sandstone cliffs. Stop at the Megalong Valley Tearooms for a scrumptious devonshire tea or lunch is also available. Nestled in the beautiful Megalong Valley, is Dryridge Estate, a stunning boutique vineyard Free bush camping is available at Old Ford Reserve and Blackheath Glen Reserve which have minimal facilities but do have toilets.
