SYDNEY MOTORWAYS & TOLLS
The Eastern Gateway to the Blue Mountains region is located within a one hour drive from Sydney. Although the M4 Great Western Highway is toll free, tolls are incurred on some of the motorways between Sydney and the other mountains region.
Toll fees can be paid either by calling into Blue Mountains Visitor Information Centres where you can purchase an 'EMU PASS' that allows you to register by phone to pay or log on to http://www.roam.com.auand set up a temporary visitor pass (Visitor E-Pass). Thess passes can be arranged either in arrears or in advance. Alternatively call 13 86 55 (13 toll) for assistance.
* Be aware hire car companies may impose additional administration charges for outstanding toll fines. If you want more information regarding applicable tolls and charges ask a friendly staff member at a visitor information centre.
The Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) manage highways in New South Wales and list traffic alerts and warnings on their site.
